Durable Fire-Treated Cladding Tested by UKAS Accredited Labs
Our unique QTD-Firesafe® treatment offers a comprehensive solution for fire protection by immersing timber in our specialized treatment tank. This ensures complete absorption and bonding of the fire-retardant solution to the timber’s cell structure, providing you with the utmost confidence that, in the event of a fire, the material will resist becoming an ignition source and significantly hinder any potential spread of fire, both internally and externally.
Unlike merely applying surface treatments, our in-depth process penetrates deeply, preserving the timber's natural beauty without altering its appearance, making it ideal for projects where aesthetics are as important as safety. Depending on the type of material, the application and drying time may take up to five days for the solution to fully cure into the cell structure. The solution is clear, maintaining the original colour of the timber, eliminating the need for additional surface finishes.

Our external timber cladding battens are treated and graded to meet the rigorous BS-5534 standards, ensuring minimal tight knots and uniform quality. These battens can be supplied with standard preservative treatment or upgraded with our QTD-Firesafe® treatment for superior fire resistance.

Important Safety Advisory:
If building regulations require fire treatment for your cladding due to its proximity to a neighbour's building (within 1m) or if it is a mandatory local requirement, it is critical to extend this treatment to the cladding battens as well. These battens secure your cladding or roofing tiles and, without proper treatment, can act like a chimney in the event of a fire, allowing flames to ascend rapidly and ignite the battens. Treating just the cladding while neglecting the battens undermines the safety of your building and may result in structural failure during a fire.
This oversight was tragically illustrated in the Grenfell Tower fire, where insufficient treatment of materials behind the cladding contributed to the disaster. Our goal is to ensure such a tragedy is not repeated by advocating for comprehensive fire safety measures that include all relevant building components.
