We have re-launched our tree planting scheme as part of the #futurecampaign where you can have your very own tree, as a gift from QTD! Delivered with your order, or planted at QTD Ltd Headquarters, the choice is yours!
We want to give back to the environment, and whilst we offer natures gift to you, we want to give back to nature by investing in change.
The UK have a target, to become Net-Zero by 2050, which means that we need to reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. One of the main ways to do this is to capture and store some of the carbon that is already out there, in addition to reducing what we are emitting.
Trees and plants have perfected this over thousands of years. Evolving into natural carbon sinks which capture and store harmful CO2. The more trees planted, the more carbon captured and stored, resulting in lower levels of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere.
Although this is only a small step, it is a mighty one, in contributing to the future of our planet, and we want to involve YOU!
With every ThermoWood order placed, over the value of £1000, you will be offered a free tree to plant at your development, or at QTD Ltd Headquarters!
Why we’re doing it
Global warming is happening at a faster rate than ever, our forests are burning, ice caps are melting and the shift in global temperatures and weather conditions are becoming more prevalent every day. Capturing and storing carbon from the atmosphere is vital in the fight against climate change.
We want to give back to the environment, which provides us with so much, and planting trees is one significant way that we can help to curb the effects of climate change. By capturing and storing carbon as well as restoring forests that have become victims to illegal felling and deforestation.
Trees provide hundreds of benefits to the environment and also to our health. They filter clean air, create homes for thousands of species of plants and animals, and act as carbon sinks which slow down the effects of looming climate change.
As Munia Khan said: “Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive”. Trees keep the air around us clean, and without them, the world would be in a very different place.
In May 2019, the UK Governments climate advisors expressed that the UK landscape needs to be transformed and citizens habits changed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2050. Such as reducing consumption of animal products as well as turning areas into forest, peatland or for use for biomass crops, to absorb CO2.
You may think that one tree at the bottom of your garden may not have much of an impact, but we can assure you it will. Your tree will keep the air around you clean and absorb CO2 emitted around you. As Darren Moorcroft (Woodland Trust’s CEO) stated: “trees are the natural solution- they soak up carbon dioxide and deliver oxygen”. One tree, has a huge impact on your atmosphere, and the more trees planted, the more effect they will have, and we want to be a part of that.
Trees also remove the air pollution which is most dangerous to our bodies, arising from burning fossil fuels, ultimately reaching dangerous concentrations in large cities as well as in neighbourhoods near busy cities. You will probably recognise this from the smoggy skies of Singapore and India to name a few. If more trees are planted in cities like this, there would be a significant reduction in ailments such as asthma and heart disease.
As well as being a significant factor in the fight against climate change, trees are known to boost our mental health whilst raising our physical health. Studies show that time in nature correlates closely with drops in anxiety and depression. It does not take a long time for the power of nature to kick in, we are naturally drawn to green spaces which motivate us to exercise more, tackling the current health epidemic of obesity as well as mental health illnesses.
How to get one
