Landmark Building W.London, gets a cantilevered deck and seating

This Landmark Honda building adjacent to the M4 is getting a complete makeover and part of the overall landscaping was to improve the outdoor open spaces. With the path already in place and not possible to divert it due to existing trees, we had to design a cantilevered platform and bench area. This was due to the lack of ground between the water and the path.

It also needed to finish at about the same level as the path for disability access, so steps were not permissible. We therefore used galvanised steel I-beams that allowed us to project 1.5m over the water and reduce the framework depth.

Material used: Nova ThermoWood Ash Hardwood
The low barrier around the two open sides are to retain wheelchairs.
